Enecta, (principal) Cannabinoids and their effects!

Which are the Cannabinoids present in Cannabis? Often we focused our attention on CBD and in part on THC, but at least eighty Cannabinoids have been identified in the plant by the world of Science, each of them with its specific characteristics. Here below we will analyze and discover the main ones!
 
1 - CBD (in Summary)

CBD, together with THC, is probably the best known cannabinoid present in Cannabis! It possesses specific features which make it a precious ally in the therapeutic field! Although Science has still got a lot of research to work on and a long way to go, we are able to state that research so far has demonstrated the efficacy of Cannabidiol in the medical field.
 
Its main therapeutic characteristics are:

anxiolytic
analgesic

anti-inflammatory

neuro-protectant
anti-rheumatic

Researchers have highlighted the relationship between CBD and the immune system, demonstrating how CBD possesses the capability to inhibit the production of some cytokines; hence the conclusion that CBD has positive effects on inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

2 - CBC

Unknown to the general public, but familiar to Science is CBC, Cannabichromene; just like CBD, CBC is not psychoactive!

CBC in combination with THC appears to be an effective anti-inflammatory, which confirms the idea that cannabinoids working together become more efficacious.

3 - CBN

CBN is a cannabinoid we can find in the Cannabis plant as a consequence of the breakdown of THC. Let’s imagine leaving a sprout in the open air for a couple of days; we will obtain a product with a higher quantity of CBN.

A Research Study of 2005 has shown how CBN, in mice, can delay some evidences of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Lou Gehrig’s disease is known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS). These results show that CBN could be effective in relieving symptoms in patients with degenerative diseases.

4 - CBG

Cannabigerol, also known as CBG, is a phytocannabinoid which, differently from THC and just like CBD, isn’t psychoactive.

CBG was identified for the first time in 1964 by the scientist Y.Gaoni, and is composed of cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), one of the first cannabinoids forming itself in the cannabis plant.

Gaoni speaks of a terpenophenolic compound, just like others present in Cannabis, and can be subdivided in three different molecules, which in turn present different specific chemical features finding their application in the therapeutic and pharmaceutical fields.

5 - THCV

THCV is another cannabinoid, which works in tandem with THC. Some research studies confirm how THCV has about 20% of the psychoactive capacities of THC, but recent research has demonstrated that THCV actually mitigates the negative psychoactive impact of THC.

Berkshire researchers, UK, have studied the antiepileptic properties of THCV in the brain of rats. First of all they tested if THCV had or hadn’t stopped the activities similar to those of epileptic fits in the brain portions.

6 - CBDV

CBDV is the abbreviation of Cannabidivarin. So far not much research has been done yet on this cannabinoid, however there are a series of research studies conducted on CBDV available.

CBDV is very similar to CBD, but it’s a “degraded” version of the latter. Last year a British company obtained a patent for CBDV to create an anti-epileptic drug, currently tested.
