Eating a nutritious diet is very important for those who do sports and in general to lead a healthy lifestyle. If we add CBD to the equation we can increase the general quality of our psychophysical state.
The relationship between CBD and Sport is a theme that we have often investigated. In this article we will try to understand how to nourish ourselves better before doing sport, looking for a right mix of proteins, carbohydrates and minerals.
The objective is not to offer a specific diet to follow but to present an alternative point of view. First of all, a general rule is that a pre-race meal should be consumed three hours before the workout.
Luca Gatteschi, a doctor who advised the Italian National Soccer Team before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, recommends the Mediterranean diet: pasta dishes with tomato or vegetables, fish, potatoes, white meat and seasonal fruit. Obviously the quantities and the right mix make the difference and are down to the individual.
We asked Pierluigi Catalano, an Enecta athlete who has ran the Spartan Race, what he eats pre-training: "From a nutritional point of view I do not steer far away from my normal diet so as not to upset my metabolism.I always try to eat foods rich in proteins, sugars and some fat. I also aim to eat them a maximum of two hours before the race to encourage the absorption and the contribution of energy".
What role does CBD play?
We have often talked about the role of the CBD after training and competitions as an element of recovery of the psychophysical state. However, it can also be an integral part in the nutrition of a sportsman. Below we will give a recipe for a protein shake.
Protein shake recipe
Simple to prepare, it is ideal before a hard workout where proteins contribute to the construction of muscle mass, which, together with CBD, is an ideal cocktail for a sportsman.
